Helsingør is bidding to become European Capital of Culture in 2032. The candidacy is being developed in partnership between Helsingør Municipality and the Elsinore 2032 association.
BEING, BECOMING and BELONGING are three parts of one story: who are we as people and as a community? Who might we become? And how can we create places where more people belong?
Through art and culture, we explore the relationship between people, nature and technology. Culture can be a shared laboratory where we meet, ask questions and try new ways of living together.
The ambition reaches beyond a single festival year. We want to strengthen co-creation, opportunities for young people and connections between local communities, with relationships that continue after 2032.

Helsingør stands beside a strait that both divides and connects. That position is part of our history and an invitation to look beyond our own borders.
The candidacy embraces the whole municipality: Helsingør, Hornbæk, Espergærde and the surrounding communities. It also looks towards North Zealand, Helsingborg and collaborations across Europe.
We invite cultural organisations, artists, educators, businesses and associations to develop this conversation with us.

No. Helsingør is working on its candidacy for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2032. The ambition is shared; the title has not yet been awarded.
Who is behind the bid?
Helsingør Municipality and the Elsinore 2032 association are developing the candidacy in partnership with organisations from cultural and civic life.
